Welcome to Dr Mairaed Crawford

We are delighted to announce that we have a new GP consulting at Neighbourhood from June 24th 2022. Dr Mairaed Crawford is new to Brisbane, having recently moved from Sydney.

Mairaed completed her medical degree at Deakin University in Geelong in 2015. Mairaed enjoyed a variety of training experiences during her early career before settling into general practice and was drawn to general practice as it affords an opportunity for patient-centred holistic care through the many stages of life. She has worked at hospitals including The Austin Melbourne, Alice Springs Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sydney. She was awarded fellowship of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2021.

With special interests in pregnancy care, women's health and mental health, Mairaed has completed further training in all three of these fields.

She has completed her Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology through the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2018. Mairead has extensive experience in all aspects of women's health including pre-conception care, GP-led antenatal care, post-partum care, contraceptive advice and care for women during menopause. Mairaed is also certified in Implanon insertion, and administration of medication for medical termination of pregnancy.

Mairaed’s other area of interest is mental health and wellbeing. She is an accredited provider of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (Focused Psychological Strategies), which can be used in the management of a wide spectrum of mental health conditions including depression and anxiety. She also has a special interest in caring for people with Eating Disorders.

Mairaed is currently pursuing further training in breastfeeding, infant sleep & cry-fuss and perinatal mood problems – stay tuned for further updates regarding these services.

Outside of work life you can usually find her chasing after her little boy, running, cycling or indulging in a strong coffee with a good book!
