Mental Health

Ensuring that you look after your mental wellbeing is crucial at all ages and stages of life.

Mental health is a core part of the services provided by GPs consulting at Neighbourhood Medical. Many of us will experience stress, anxiety and depression at some point in our lives. They can provide support, time and space for you to talk about what’s happening and figure out a treatment plan, including Mental Health Care Plans to access psychological support if required. They can also help with more complex conditions and refer to a suitable mental health professional when necessary.

GPs can provide initial assessment, referral and medical monitoring of patients with eating disorders, as per Queensland Health guidelines and as part of a treatment team including psychological support, including for younger patients attending the CYMHS eating disorder unit at Greenslopes.

For our paediatric patients, Dr Nicole White provides a specialised service through GP4Kids which includes initial assessment of behavioural and developmental concerns in young children. Anxiety is a common problem and may present in many different ways in children, including as separation anxiety and school refusal. We can help with an assessment, treatment plan and referral if necessary. Parents also need support to help their children, and we are happy to provide that.
